Is There A Connection Between Vitamin E And Lipitor?
Its been touted over the years that taking Vitamin E and Lipitor together will actually allow each of these medications to function better. It could be the drug companies pushing this idea or there might be a modicum of truth in it, however in my research I did not find any true facts that supported the idea.
It seems to be that people add supplements to their diet on whims of fancy thinking that any supplement is better than no supplement. This has been proven false time and again and not only not helpful but possibly harmful.
To know if there is a connection between Vitamin E and Lipitor we have to define what each are. Vitamin E is a fat soluble nutrient that is needed for our body to function correctly. Vitamin E is an antioxidant responsible for proper functioning of the immune system and for maintaining healthy eyes and skin and is absorbed by the gastrointestinal system and stored in tissues and organs throughout the body.
Lipitor on the other hand is a Statin Drug that seems to carry a lot of controversy with it regarding its safety and efficacy. One issue is that the level is brought to low and this causes some major problems as cholesterol is required for the natural synthesis of hormones.
There are no restrictions on food, beverages, or activities while you are taking vitamin E and/or Lipitor unless otherwise directed by your doctor. This means that both the drugs can be taken together without conflict.
As far as it is known there is no real reason that you would take Vitamin E and Lipitor together. There is one known indication that might possibly give you reason to combine the two and that is that Vitamin E may prevent heart disease by lowering the total blood cholesterol and preventing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. The studies have been most conflicting and with no real facts to say it is a function.
